GC-MS Profiling, in vitro Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activities of Kaempferia parviflora Wall. ex. Baker Rhizome Extract

Bakground: Kaempferia parviflora (zingiberaceae family) rhizomes are used for various pharmacological applications. The present study is aimed putative identification of phyto-constituents in the chloroform extract rhizome and to correlate with bioactivities like antioxidant anti-microbial/fungal activities. Methods: Rhizome was prepared using Soxhlet extractor undergone phytoconstituents analysis it by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results: Identified twenty-five compounds, out which 4H-1-Benzopyran- 4-0ne,5,7-dimethoxy-2-phenyl Hydroxyurea showed maximum minimum relative abundance 76.4% 0.002% respectively. By agar well diffusion method, (25 μg/ml) exhibited highest antibacterial potential against Micrococcus luteus (MTCC 106) (gram-positive bacteria) anti-fungal plant pathogen Rhizoctonia solani 4633). also potent scavenging activities 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazine (DPPH) 2,2′-Azino-bis (3-Ethylbenzothiazoline-6-Sulfonic Acid) (ABTS) radicals IC50 values 3.0 ± 0.1 mg/ml 19.4 1.2 μg/ml Subsequently, lipid peroxidation assay estimation activity this extract. (20 inhibited 80.0 4.5%. Conclusion: outcomes provide scope isolation bioactive compounds from medicinal application.
